The stroke team at this island hospital chose their first patient with care. It was important for their first thrombolysis to succeed, or all their efforts would come to nought. In July 2019 that patient arrived and within hours everyone knew that Bohol island had a stroke-ready hospital.

Where do you begin when your goal is to make stroke treatment available to a population of over 200 million people? Angels’ consultant Ravish Upadhyay has answered this question as follows: start in one of the world’s oldest cities, target 20 hospitals, and in the space of three years grow the network to 65 and counting.
